Beloit Senior Taylor Travis has been named the NCKSSports.com/Cunningham Telephone and Cable Athlete of the Week.
Travis has had an outstanding stretch of scoring over the past three games for the Trojans. Beloit has gone 2-1 in their last three contests, and Travis has been the leading scorer in two of them, averaging 19.7 ppg over the three game span. He has combined to make 15 three-point baskets and gone 9-9 from the FT line in the three games as well. On Friday night, in Beloit's 71-40 win at Russell, Travis scored a career high 25 points, making what was also a career high 7 3-point shots, while also going 4-4 from the charity stripe. On Saturday, he scored 15 points with two 3's and shot 5-5 from the FT line in a 52-41 home win over Ellsworth. He capped the three-game run with 18 points and 6 made 3-pointers in Beloit's 49-41 loss to Chapman on Tuesday night in Beloit. On the season, Travis is the second leading scorer for Beloit, averaging 16.3 ppg. He has also made a team high 36 three-pointers and is shooting 44% from beyond the arc.
