Lutgen, Princ, Burks Win Individual State Titles

The St. John's Blujays boys cross country team outran the field in the 1A State Championships at Wamego Country Club, claiming their second straight 1A state title.  The Blujays finished with 19 points, ahead of St. John-Hudson who was second place with 44.  St. John's Senior David Lutgen won the individual state title with a time of 16:22.30, which was 40 seconds ahead of 2nd place Brodric Shirley of Frankfort.  Other runners for St. John's were Freshman Caleb Eilert (5th, 17:22.80), Senior Adam Bates (6th, 17:23.20) and Sophomore Brandon Bates (8th, 17:39.50).  Also in 1A Boys, Senior Anton Reeves of Pike Valley finished in 7th (17:34.00)

In the 1A Girls race, Sylvan-Lucas Sophomore Autumn Princ cruised to the individual title with a time of 18:37.10, which was a minute and 33 seconds better than the second place finisher.

In the 3A Girls race at Rim Rock Farm in Lawrence, Beloit Sophomore Hannah Burks won the state championship with a time of 19:10.30, which was 57 seconds better than her twin sister Hayley Burks, who finished 2nd place with a time of 20:07.08.

In 2A at Wamego, Freshman Jaycee Vath of Lincoln took 2nd place in the girls race with a time of 19:40.70.  Full results can be found below.
