St. John's Catholic High School Senior David Lutgen signed a letter of intent on Wednesday to compete in Cross Country and Track at Kansas State University.

Lutgen has had an outstanding career at St. John's, as he has been the catalyst in back-to-back 1A State cross country titles for the Blujays.  As a sophomore, Lutgen finished 4th in the state in 1A cross country.  He improved to second place as a junior, and this season, he ran away with the individual state title with a time of 16:22, which was 40 seconds better than the second place finisher.

Lutgen is also a five-time medalist at state track & field.  The past two seasons, he has finished 3rd in the 1A Boys 3200m run.
