Pike Valley graduate Lane Peters has been named the Telephone and Cable Athlete of the Week.

Peters has had a great run over the last month or so in high school sports.  At the KSHSAA State Track & Field Championships on May 26, Peters took home three gold medals and state titles.  Two of them were in individual events, as he won the 1A Boys 100m Dash and 200m Dash championships for the 2nd straight year in both events.  This year running the 100m in 11.06 and the 200m in 22.66.  Peters was also part of the 4x400m Relay team for Pike Valley that won the state title with a time of 3:29.63.  After finishing the track and field season, Peters took a week off, then came to camp for the 8-Man All-Star Game to represent the Panthers one last time on the football field.  Joined by his teammates Cole Strickler and Davante Hammer as well as his head coach Don Melby, the Pike Valley contigent was part of the DII East squad that won over the West 50-12.  Peters finished the game with 57 yards rushing and 18 yards receiving.  Peters will go to Kansas Wesleyan in the fall and will compete on the football and track & field teams there.
