The KSHSAA State Cross Country Championships took place on Saturday.  The 6A, 5A & 3A meets took place at Rim Rock Farm in Lawrence, with 4A, 2A & 1A at Wamego Country Club.

The Lincoln Lady Leopards claimed the 1A Girls team state championship with 16 points, as the next closest competitor was Berean Academy with 41.  Lincoln Sophomore Jaycee Vath was the individual state champion with a time of 19:47.70, 26 seconds better than her team Aubry Donley who came in 2nd place.  In all, four Lady Leopards finished in the top ten, as Raegen Stewart was 8th and Shelbie Ford finished 9th.  The state title for Lincoln was the school's first since the girls basketball team won state in 1980 in 2A.  Other 1A top 20 runners from the area: Carolina Barraza of Pike Valley was 14th and Jaylyn Wiese of Tipton finished 17th.

In the 1A Boys race, after winning the last two state titles, the St. John's boys finished in 3rd place in 2018.  Sophomore Caleb Eilert took 2nd place individually for the Blujays.  Osborne's Cameron Delaney finished 6th, JC Huehl of Sylvan-Lucas took 9th and Brandon Bates from St. John's finished in 10th.

In 3A at Lawrence, the Southeast of Saline boys took home the team title.  Their top runner was Luke Gleason in 12th place and Dylan Sprecker finished 18th.  Last year's girls state champion Hannah Burks of Beloit took home a third place medal this season.  Her sister Hayley Burks finished in 12th place.  Also from the NCAA, Caroline Giles of Minneapolis finished 4th.

One area athlete finished in the top ten at 2A.  Sacred Heart's Luis Mendez took 10th place in the boys race.  Full results are below for State Cross Country.
