State Volleyball Results

Beloit and Smith Center earned 3rd place trophies at the State Volleyball Tournaments on Saturday. 

At 3A in Hutchinson, the Beloit Lady Trojans will hang their 1st ever banner in volleyball as they finished 3rd. On Friday, Beloit knocked off Frontenac & Belle Plaine, but fell to Silver Lake in pool play.  With a 2-1 pool play record, Beloit advanced to the semifinals on Saturday versus Burlington. Beloit fell in two competitive sets, 25-23, 25-22 which put them into the 3rd place match against Hesston, a team Beloit had defeated in 3 sets earlier in the season. The Trojans played inspired and rolled the Swathers 25-15, 25-20 for their best ever finish at state and completed the year with a 37-6 record. The 37 wins are the most in a season in school history. 

At 2A in Hays, the Smith Center Lady Red, finished with a 39-6 record and 3rd in 2A.  On Friday, the Lady Red went 3-0 in pool play defeating Ellinwood, Wabunsee, & Meade.  On Saturday in the semifinals, Smith Center lost in 3 sets to Garden Plain, but bounced back with a strong effort to defeat Pittsburg-Colgan for 3rd. 

At 1A in Emporia, the St.John's/Tipton Lady Blujays went 1-2 in pool play, beating South Gray, but falling to Moundridge and Spearville. The Lady Jays finished their season with a 33-10 record.
