Members of the Beloit Lady Trojans volleyball team have been named the Telephone and Cable Athletes of the Week.

Beloit had their best finish in school history, bringing home the third place trophy at the 3A State Tournament in Hutchinson the last weekend of October.  It was the first time Beloit has been able to hang a banner in volleyball after having made it to the state tournament three of the past four seasons.  On Friday, October 26, the Lady Trojans went 2-1 in pool play with two set wins over Frontenac (25-20, 25-20) and Belle Plaine (25-21, 25-16) before falling to Silver Lake in 2 (25-21, 25-20).  Beloit came back on Saturday with a hard-fought 25-23, 25-22 loss to Burlington in the semifinals, but recovered nicely in the third place match, beating Hesston for the second time this season, 25-15, 25-20.  The win over Hesston gave them their 37th win, which is the most in the history of the program.  Beloit finished 37-6 overall and went 12-0 in the NCAA to take the league title.  They have also won 39 of their last 40 league matches.  For their efforts at State, Shea Larson and Breezy Schroeder were named to the KVA 3A All-State Tournament Team.  Six Lady Trojans were also recognized on the NCAA All-League team, with Larson and Schroeder joined by Jessica Meier, MaKenzie Travis and Sydney Barrett on the first team and Paige Goddard was an honorable mention selection.

We will announce the winners each week. Remember, you can nominate an athlete from any school sport.
