Beloit Senior Colin Chandler and Thunder Ridge Junior Jaden Boden have been named the Telephone and Cable Athletes of the Week.

Chandler added to his already outstanding senior season with the Beloit track & field team by qualifying for the KSHSAA State meet in two throwing events this past Thursday at the 3A Scott City Regional.  Chandler has been dominant this season in the shot put for Beloit, and he took the gold medal at Regionals with a throw of 53'2 1/4".  He is now a three-time state qualifier for the event.  Chandler has taken first place in the shot put at every regular meet he has competed in this year, which is a total of eight gold medals.  His top throw was 53'4 1/2" at the NCAA league meet in Salina on May 10.  In addition to the shot put, he also qualified for state in the discus with a 3rd place finish, throwing 142'7" last Thursday.  He has also finished 2nd in the discus five different times this season.

Boden had a great day at the 1A Regional Track & Field meet in Hill City last Thursday.  Boden is headed to state in four different events.  She won individual gold medals in the 800m Run (2:32.21) and the 1600m Run (5:59.78).  She was also a member of the 4x400m Relay (2nd Place) and the 4x100m Relay (3rd Place).  On the season, Boden has finished with 1st place medals in the 800m Run four times including Regionals.
