Beloit Senior Vincent Palen and St. John's Junior Lauryn Dubbert have been named the Telephone and Cable Athletes of the Week

Both players hit career milestones this past week by surpassing the 1,000 point mark in scoring.

Palen scored 11 points on Friday night in Beloit's 79-23 win over Russell to put him at 999 points in his career.  With the first basket of the game for Beloit on Tuesday night against Sacred Heart, he passed the 1,000 point barrier.  Beloit won 60-49 over the Knights and Palen finished the game with 21 points, going 7-12 from the floor and 7-8 at the free throw line.  He now has 1,020 total points.  On the season, Palen is averaging 15.1 ppg, 3.1 rpg and 2.7 apg.  Palen is shooting 45% from the floor, 40% from 3 and 82% (70-85) at the free throw line for the 15-3 Trojans.

Dubbert has been the leader all season for the St. John's/Tipton Lady Blujays.  On Monday night in their 55-25 win at Lincoln, she passed the 1,000 point mark, scoring 20 points in the win.  She had 961 points going into Friday night's game against Chase, where she put up 27 in the 60-21 win in Tipton to get to 988 points.  Her 1,000 point shot was a 3-pointer in the third quarter of the Lincoln win.  Dubbert added another 15 points in St. John's/Tipton's 50-29 home win over Pike Valley on Tuesday night, putting her career total at 1,023.  Lauryn is the third member of her family to pass the 1,000 point plateau as her brothers Trey (1,240 pts 2011-15) and Davis (1,546 pts 2013-17) both reached the mark as well.  This season, Dubbert is now averaging 20.6 ppg, 5.2 spg, 4 rpg and 2.7 apg.  She has a team high 32 made 3-pointers and is shooting 43% from the floor and 87% (77-89) from the free throw line for the 15-4 Lady Jays.
