Beloit Senior Bryce Mason has been named the Telephone and Cable Athlete of the Week.

Mason had a huge week in helping lead the Beloit Trojans boys basketball team to the 3A Sub-State title last week in Beloit.  He scored in double figures all three games, but was outstanding in the semis and championship game.  Mason started the week with an 11-point, 8-rebound performance in a 74-37 win over Russell in the first round of Sub-State on Monday.  After that, he broke out and registered two huge double-doubles.  In the Trojans' 67-64 Sub-State semifinal win over Norton on Thursday, Mason scored 18 points and grabbed 12 rebounds.  He shot 9-13 from the floor and added three blocked shots.  In Beloit's Sub-State championship win over TMP-Marian on Saturday night, Mason scored 18 points on 7-10 shooting from the floor and 4-4 at the free throw line.  He also hauled in 15 boards and had five blocked shots.  In those final two games, he averaged 18 ppg, 13.5 rpg and 4 bpg while shooting 70% (16-23) from the floor.  On the season, Mason is now averaging 12.3 ppg, 8.9 rpg and 3.5 bpg, while shooting 57% from the floor and 60% from the charity stripe.

We will announce the winners each week. Remember, you can nominate an athlete from any school sport.
