This week, we continue the NCKSSports.com/Cunningham Telephone and Cable Senior Athlete Spotlight.  Each week we'll spotlight a male and female athlete from area schools.  We continue with Tipton Catholic High School seniors Alex Ketter and Tara Ellenz.

Ketter competed in three different sports in high school.  During the 2019 football season, Ketter fought off some injuries at times, but played in eight games for the 7-3 St. John's/Tipton Blujays.  Ketter had five total touchdowns on offense as he split time as the quarterback and a tight end.  On defense, he had 62 tackles, six TFL, tied for the team lead with four sacks and also had two fumble recoveries.  For his efforts, he was selected as a 2nd team all-district DL.  Ketter was also selected to play in the 2020 8-Man DII All-Star Game.  Ketter also excelled for Tipton in spring sports.  As a junior, he finished in the top 20 in Sand Greens State Golf and also qualified for state and finished 12th in all of 1A in the 800m run.  He also finished 9th in 1A in the event as a sophomore in 2018.

Ellenz had a solid senior year for St. John's/Tipton in volleyball and basketball.  Ellenz was a 2nd team all-Northern Plains League selection on the volleyball court this season.  She finished third on the team in kills with 88 for the 30-9 Lady Jays volleyball team.  She was also third in blocks with 47 and added 191 digs and 21 aces.  In basketball, Ellenz was an honorable mention all-NPL pick, averaging 6.0 ppg, 4.4 rpg and just under 2 spg for the 16-6 Lady Jays.  She was also a 65% free throw shooter on the season.  Ellenz was also a state qualifier in Sand Greens golf during her career at Tipton.  Ellenz has also excelled in the classroom.  Maintaining a 4.0 GPA throughout high school, she was offered the Royal Purple Scholarship to attend K-State.  She was also named a Kansas Honor Scholar, recognized as a 2020 Governor's Scholar, and is a Dane G. Hansen Scholarship recipient.
