This week, we continue the Telephone and Cable Senior Athlete Spotlight.  Each week we'll spotlight a male and female athlete from area schools.  We continue with Sylvan-Lucas High School seniors Beau Batchman and Kelsey Decker.

Batchman participated in three sports during his high school career.  In his senior season, he excelled on the football field, helping lead the Mustangs to a 6-4 finish.  He led the Mustangs in rushing and was a 1st team all-District 5 RB.  On defense, he was a 1st team all-district LB and was also named the Defensive MVP of District 5 in 8-Man DII.  Batchman was also an honorable mention all-state selection on the gridiron.  On the basketball court, he was a key contributor on a team that went 18-7 and was a 1A Sub-State runner-up.  An honorable mention all-NPL pick, he averaged 7.2 ppg, 5,4 rpg, 2.0 apg and shot 43% from the floor.  He has also seen success on the track.  As a junior he finished 10th place at the state meet in the 1A 300m hurdles.

Decker had a solid senior season in both volleyball and basketball.  She was an honorable mention all-NPL volleyball selection, leading the Lady Mustangs as a setter with 260 assists.  She also added 37 aces, which was second on the team, and had 187 digs and 34 kills.  Sylvan-Lucas finished 19-14 this season.  In basketball, the Lady Mustangs went 13-8 in 2019-20.  Decker averaged 3.3 ppg and 2.1 rpg on the hardwood.
