This week, we conclude the Telephone and Cable Senior Athlete Spotlight.  Each week we'll spotlight a male and female athlete from area schools.  We conclude with Beloit Trojan seniors Trase McQueen and Paige Goddard.

McQueen played a key role for the Trojans football team that went 7-3 this past season.  In his final season, he was named a first team all-NCAA defensive lineman.  For the season he had 38 total tackles, but led the team with ten tackles for loss and seven sacks despite playing in just six games due to injury.  He was the homecoming king at Beloit High in 2019.  McQueen also participated in basketball his first three years at Beloit.  He was also on the track and field team with the Trojans.  As a junior, he qualified for the 3A State meet in the 400m Dash, finishing in 11th place in that race.  He was also a member of the 4x400m Relay team that took 9th place at the 3A State meet.  McQueen excelled in the classroom as well.  He was awarded a Dane G. Hansen Scholarship among many other academic accolades.  He also received the KSHSAA Citizenship Award and was Beloit's DAR Good Citizen nominee.

Goddard has been a key contributer on the volleyball court and softball field during her time at Beloit.  As a member of the 41-4 3A State runner-up volleyball team, she was a first team all-NCAA selection her senior year.  She had a team high 93 total blocks and finished third on the team with 212 kills.  Goddard was also an honorable mention all-league selection as a junior.  On the softball diamond, Goddard lettered every year as a member of the team.  From her freshman through junior seasons, she was a starting pitcher and key member of a team that went 50-13 over the last three seasons.  That included a 17-3 mark in 2019 and Beloit's first ever state softball tournament appearance.  Off the field and court, Goddard spent time this school year as an education intern, gaining valuable experience at the elementary and high school level.
