Beloit Senior Hunter Prochaska has been named the Telephone and Cable Athlete of the Week.

After a 3-2-1A District championship and runner-up finishes at the Regional and Sub-State tournaments, Prochaska saved the best for last, claiming the 3-2-1A State Championship this past Saturday in the 170# weight class.  Prochaska opened the tournament with a win by fall in 2:18 over David Signs of Wellsville before winning by fall in 5:00 over Ben Hansen of Plainville in the semis.  That set up a matchup for the third straight week with Southeast of Saline's Matthew Rodriguez in the state title bout.  After losing the Regional and Sub-State finals, both by 8-4 decisions to Rodriguez, Prochaska won the most important match of the season.  He built an early lead and went on to win the state title by a 17-9 major decision.  Prochaska finished the season with a 31-6 record.  It was his second straight individual state title for Beloit as he won the 152# championship in 3-2-1A as a junior.

We will announce the winners each week. Remember, you can nominate an athlete from any school sport.
