Ellsworth Sophomore Brendan Anderson and Junior Chase Bourbon have been named the NCKSSports.com/Cunningham Telephone and Cable Athletes of the Week.

Anderson & Bourbon have teamed together for the Ellsworth Bearcats tennis team to qualify for this weekend's 3-2-1A State Tournament.  The pair finished in 2nd Place at the 3-2-1A Regional in Lindsborg this past Friday.  They opened the tournament with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Jensen & Cauthon of Central Plains followed by a 6-0, 6-1 win over Walton and Wassom of Marysville in the quarters.  In the semis, they needed three sets, but won 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 over Gamble and Shirley of Hesston.  In the championship match, they ran into an outstanding pair in Micah Dahlsten and Asher Deutschendorf of Hesston, falling in straight sets.  The 3-1 record on the weekend put their overall record at 27-4 this season as they head into the State Tournament, which will take place at Harmon Park Tennis Complex in Prairie Village.  Action begins Friday morning at the 3-2-1A State Tournament.
