For the 2nd time this season, St. John's junior Vanessa Kresin has been named the NCKS Sports.com/Cunningham Telephone & Cable Athlete of the Week. 
   

Kresin helped lead the Lady Jays to four victories over the past week including the PTL championship game on Saturday against Rock Hills.

On January 22nd, Kresin scored 22 points, grabbed 4 rebounds, and made 4 steals to go along with an 8-9 performance from the foul line in a 36-27 victory over Pike Valley.  On Saturday, she had a game high 24 points, shooting 10-17 from the floor, to go along with 8 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals in helping her team win the PTL Tourney title over Rock Hills, 49-37. Earlier this week, Kresin continued her fine play with 12 points, 9 steals, 7 assists, and 7 rebounds in a 38-33 win over Wilson. Wednesday, Kresin tallied 25 points and dished out 10 assists in a 49-38 win against Southern Cloud.

On the season, Kresin is averaging 18.5 points, 5.3 rebounds, 5.7 assists, 5.8 steals per contest and shooting 73% from the charity stripe.

An area league coach commented, "Vanessa Kresin was definitely the best player at the PTL Tournament and made key plays in separating us from them for the win."
