The Beloit High School football program has had many of their players go on to the collegiate level of football in recent years, but next week, they will have an alumnus signing to play professional football. 2009 graduate Tyler Jamis will sign a contract and begin training camp on Wednesday, February 10 with the Wichita Wild indoor professional football team.
Jamis had a stellar senior season for Beloit on the defensive line as he was honored with an All-State selection by the Kansas Football Coaches Association and was an honorable mention selection by the Topeka Capital Journal. Jamis was also a first team all-league selection in the NCAA as a senior.
Tyler started his post high school career at Highland Community College this past fall, but is now moving up to the professional ranks.
Jamis had to make three different cuts during his tryouts for the Wild. Jamis and the Wild will begin training camp on the 10th of February and their first game in the Indoor Football League season will be against the LaCrosse (WI) Spartans on February 26th at Hartman Arena in Park City. Wichita won the IFL's Central Division in 2009.
Some of Jamis' new teammates include Smith Center and Kansas State graduate Justin Montgomery and other former K-Stater's Justin McKinney and Byron Garvin as well as former KU Wide Receiver Brian Murph.
Congratulations and best wishes go out to Tyler Jamis as he begins this new venture.
