Senior athletes from across Central & Northeast Kansas participated in All-Star Games in Salina & Concordia this weekend. Kansas Weslyan hosted their game in Salina on Saturday, March 27, while Cloud County Community College hosted the NCK All-Star basketball games in Concordia on Sunday, March 28.
Many area participants made their mark. Karly Buer of Concordia scored a game high 24 points in leading the Purple Team to a 59-46 victory on Saturday in Salina. Shea Shoemaker of Minneapolis led the White Team with 15 points.
In the boys game, the White Team won 93-72, as Michael Yoxall of Thunder Ridge made his presence known with 10 points in the win. Cade Rietzke of Thunder Ridge scored 9 points in the loss.
On Sunday in Concordia, Shea Shoemaker of Minneapolis led the Gold Team with 15 points as they defeated the White Team 75-60. Kalli Kruse of Beloit chipped in with 12 points for the Gold, while Buer of Concordia was named the Defensive MVP and also had a game high 16 points for the White Team.
In the boys contest, the White Team had six players in double figures in their 99-85 win over the Gold. Mark Riordan of Sacred Heart led area players with 12 points, while Joel Cushing of Lakeside chipped in with 10 points.
