It was a very successful weekend for the NCKSSports.com area athletes at the 2010 State Track & Field Championships at Cessna Stadium in Wichita.  In all, there were state champions crowned from the area in 12 different events on the weekend.  For a complete list, read on.

       
In Class 1A Girls, Vanessa Kresin of St. John's took home the Javelin title with a throw of 132'7".  Freshman Jenna Farris of Lincoln claimed the state title in the 3200m Run with a time of 11:53.21.
 
In the 1A Boys results, Thunder Ridge Sophomore Joel Struckhoff grabbed the gold medal in the long jump, leaping 22'3".  Andrew Gasper of Tipton took home the 3200m Run state championship with a time of 9:53.26.
 
All of the 2A State Champions in the area were from Osborne.  On the girls side, Osborne Senior Emily Girard finished her career in style, winning the 300m Hurdle race with a time of 46.32.  In 2A boys, Joe Sumpter matched the feat of Girard, winning the 300m Hurdles in a time of 39.18 in his final race as a Bulldog.  Osborne's 4x100m Relay team of Sumpter, Damon Schurr, Justin Pruter and Jon Eickenberg also took home state gold with a time of 43.63.  The Osborne boys also came in 2nd place in the overall team standings behind Bennington.
 
In 3A Girls, Smith Center's Morgan Darden was the State Champion in the Discus with a throw of 141'5" and the Smith Center 4x100m Relay team of Torrie Fuller, Hallie McCall, Tangie Hileman and Terra Rempe won the gold with a time of 50.68
 
The Beloit Boys took home the state title in the 4x800m Relay in 8:18.65.  Their team consisted of Dyllan Nuzum, Kevin Williams, Tyler Blass and Aaron Catlin.  Ryan McMichael of Southeast of Saline also won the state championship in the 110m Hurdles with a time of 15.35.
 
Russell had one state champ, as Junior Peyton Weiss won the 4A Girls Long Jump with a leap of 17'7".
