The Beloit Vikings 7th/8th Grade MAYB basketball team has been named the NCKS Sports.com/Cunningham Telephone & Cable Athletes of the Week.

The Vikings had a successful summer on the MAYB circuit, as they went to Derby, and after falling in the opening rounds, came back to take first place in their bracket.  They continued the next weekend, July 10th & 11th at McPherson, finishing second in a tough field.  The Vikings went 2-2 in pool play with wins over Clay Center and Buhler and losses to Hanover and St. John.  In the semis on Sunday, they avenged their loss and defeated Hanover to advance to the McPherson Tournament championship game, where they play extremely well, but fell just short against St. John to take home 2nd place.

The Vikings team consists of: Luke Eilert, Connor Eilert, Trey Dubbert, Riley Gates, R.J. Jackson, Aaron Gengler and Isaac Hesting.
