The Kansas Rim Rattlers placed third over the weekend in the Salina Mid America Youth Basketball Tournament.  The team won three of the five games to move its summer record to 18 and 4. 
       
The team is made up of players from area schools including;  Vanessa Kresin of St. Johns, Bailey Brown and Cami Engelbert of Beloit, Jenna Farris from Lincoln, Blair Bloomfield of Clifton-Clyde, Maggie Leonard of Marysville, Amanda Fleming from Rock Hills, and Dani Pounds of Sylvan Grove!
The first game against Junction City was a 46 to 39 win.  Vanessa Kresin and Bailey Brown had solid performances and Jenna Farris had a big second half! 
In game two against players from Osborne and Kensington the Rim Rattlers won 66 to 25.  Amanda Fleming shot the ball well and Dani Pounds led a balanced attack. 
Game number three resulted in a big victory over the Dream Team 61 to 43.  A strong defensive performance led by Bailey Brown and big offensive games from Jenna Farris and Vanessa Kresin blew open a tight game at the half.
The third loss of the summer came against the other Dream Team in the tournament.  The Rim Rattlers lost 38 to 45.  Maggie Leonard had one of her best games of the summer and Cami Engelbert scored well in the lane. 
The final game was against the team that won the tournament made up of players from the Hutchinson area.  The Rim Rattlers were led by Vanessa Kresin on offense and Bailey Brown on defense, but lost 38 to 49 to a team that went undefeated in the Salina tournament!
The final tournament of the summer for the Kansas Rim Rattlers will be next Friday thru Sunday in Oklahoma City.  They will play at Oklahoma City University in the National MAYB tournament.  The tournament will consist of 50 teams from 17 states. 
Head Coach Todd Clover said: "The young ladies have put a lot of time and effort into improving as individual players and as a team.  I am very proud of the young ladies and there accomplishments!"
