Beloit senior Zach Brummer, Beloit junior Austin Budke, Beloit sophomore Payton Vetter and Lincoln junior Jenna Farris have been named
NCKSSports.com/Cunningham Telephone and Cable Basketball Athletes of the Week.
This was a week where we simply couldn't choose just one athlete of the week as all four were instrumental in their team's performance this week. All four are VERY deserving!
Beloit's three headed offensive monster continued their fine play at the Sterling Invitational this past week in leading the Trojans to a 3rd place finish, which if not for a late three-pointer, would have been more than likely the tourney champion.
For the second straight year, Brummer and Budke were named to the all-tournament team. Brummer averaged 16 points and shot 54% from the floor during the Sterling tourney. Not to be outdone, Budke had two double-doubles in the tourney and averaged 15 points and 8 rebounds while shooting a terrific 57% from the field. Vetter averaged 14 points and 7 rebounds, made 4 three's, and hit a sizzling 65% of his shots (17-26).
For the season, Brummer averages 10 points & 7 rebounds per game, Budke 16 points & 7 rebounds per contest, and Vetter scores 14 points and grabs 5 rebounds per game.
Farris enjoyed what Beloit so craved at Sterling, a tournament championship. Jenna once again was the catalyst for the Lincoln Lady Leopards as they won the first ever NPL Tourney Title. Farris averaged 21 points per game in the tourney with a 28 point performance in the semifinals against Thunder Ridge.
Congratulations to Beloit's Zach Brummer, Austin Budke, Payton Vetter, and Lincoln's Jenna Farris for being named the Cunningham Telephone & Cable/NCKSSports.com Basketball Athletes of the Week.
