Beloit Senior Jacob English and Smith Center's Josh McDowell have been named NCKSSports.com/Cunningham Telephone and Cable Wrestling Athletes of the Week.

This was a week where we simply couldn't choose just one athlete of the week as both of these young men are VERY deserving!

January has been a terrific month for Jacob English as the senior was invited to play in the Shrine Bowl, won the 285 lbs Jayhusker Championship for the 2nd straight year, won the  Beloit Invitational at 285 lbs on Saturday, and will sign a letter of intent to play football at the Division I level with the Wyoming Cowboys!  Oh, and by the way, he turns 18 on January 24th!!!

McDowell
has had quite the month as well as he was the 195 lb. champion at the Superior, Nebraska invitational and at the Beloit Invitational, where he defeated the #1 ranked 4A wrestler Skyler Hittle, by a score of 5-1, who had an undefeated 26-0 record prior to the championship match.

Josh has maintained a 4.0 GPA through high school, being on the Superintendent's honor roll every semester, is a member of the National Honor Society, active in his church, was 1st team all-MCL offense and defense in football and is a captain on the wrestling team.  Between school and wrestling practice he volunteers his time reading to the elderly at the long term care. Josh McDowell, the definition of a true Student-Athlete.
