[NCKS] Trego Leaving MCL

After 59 years in the Mid-Continent League, Trego Community High School in WaKeeney is moving to the Northwest Kansas League. The move was approved by the USD 208 Board of Education, and will begin in the next academic school year (2012-13).

[NCKS] Beloit Gymnasts Named Athletes of the Week

Concordia Gymnastic Center's Beloit gymnasts have been named the NCKSSports.com/Cunningham Telephone and Cable Athletes of the Week.

Concordia Gymnastic Center competed in the Missouri Valley AAU District
Championships at Ft. Hays on May 4-6. There were 42 girls competing from
the Concordia Gymnastics Center, including 12 Beloit Members. Four of those members were all around State Champs. Darby Odle in Level 3, Reagen Eilert in Level 2, Chloe Odle in Level 2 and Trista Boeve in Level 4. The state champs have the option of competing in Nationals in Wisconsin Dells on June 20-24th. Other girls competing from Beloit were Caitlyn Strong, Sapphire Davis, Bryanna Kohler, Shyanne Kohler, Karody Kadel, Elaine Cockcroft and Haley Cockcroft.

Congratulations to the Beloit Gymnasts from Concordia Gymnastics Center for being named the NCKSSports.com/Cunningham Telephone and Cable Athletes of the Week.

Mid-Continent League Track & Field Results
NCAA League Track & Field Results

The Beloit Trojan track teams competed at the NCAA league track meet on Friday, May 11^th. Sacred Heart hosted the meet at Salina Central Stadium. Beloit, Ellsworth, Minneapolis, Republic County, Russell, Sacred Heart, and Southeast of Saline make up the NCAA league, which has been in existent since 1995. This meet also sets the stage for the Trojans regional meet held next Friday in Beloit. Weather was decent with temperatures in the mid 70's and a light wind.

[NCKS] NCAA League Golf at Russell

The NCAA League Golf Meet was held on Thursday in Russell. Russell took home the team title with a total score of 340, while Jordan Hecker of Russell claimed the individual gold and league championship with a score of 70, which was 4 strokes better than Brooks Brown of Sacred Heart, who shot a 74. [NCKS] Schurr Named Athlete of the Week

Osborne Senior Damon Schurr has been named the NCKSSports.com/Cunningham Telephone and Cable Athlete of the Week.

Schurr has been outstanding on the track the past week and a half for the Osborne Bulldogs boys Track & Field team. In his last three meets he has won four gold medals at each stop for a total of 12. 6 of those are individual and the other 6 are as part of relays. At the Beloit Relays on April 27th, he won the 100m Dash (10.98), 200m Dash (22.63) and was a part of the 4x100m Relay (45.09) and 4x400m Relay (3:34.45). He repeated those marks at the Thompson Relays in Lincoln on May 4th and the Palco Invitational at Stockton on May 7th. At Lincoln his times were 10.88 (100m), 22.86 (200m), 44.73 (4x100), 3:36.36 (4x400), and at Palco, 11.33 (100m); 22.94 (200m), 45.03 (4x100), 3:35.55 (4x400).

[NCKS] MCL Releases All-League Wrestling Team

Since the Mid-Continent League did not have a league wrestling tournament in 2012, it was decided to have the coaches vote on an All League Wrestling team this year.

This being a new format in the MCL, it took some time to iron out all the details, but here is the 2011-12 MCL All-League Wrestling Team.

[NCKS] Riley County Invitational Golf Meet

The Riley County Invitational was held on Friday at the Leonardville Golf Course. Riley County claimed the team title with a score of 312 and Wade Hageman of Riley County won the individual gold, shooting an even par 66 on the day. The top area finisher was Adam Horn of Rock Hills who shot a 71 on the day. More results can be found below.
