BROGAN MONTY, Wrestling
Beloit Freshman Brogan Monty has been named the NCKSSports.com/Cunningham Telephone and Cable Athlete of the Week.
Monty is off to a blistering start in his high school wrestling career as he has compiled a 16-0 record over the first month of the season at the 106# weight class. Most recently, Monty took home the gold medal with a first place finish at the JR Durham Invitational in Norton this past Saturday. Monty opened with a win by fall over Xzephren Donner of Russell in 1:18 in the quarterfinals and followed that with another fall over Cauy Bosserman of Oakley in just 1:12. Against a tough opponent in the finals, Monty won a 5-1 decision over Aaron Wilson of Cozad (NE) to pick up the championship. He has also won a gold medal this season at the Ellis Railer Round Robin on December 9. For his efforts, Monty is currently the #1 ranked wrestler in the state at 106# as voted on by the Kansas Wrestling Coaches Association.
We will announce the winners each week. Remember, you can nominate an athlete from any school sport.
