Lakeside Senior Kylie Bergmann has been named the NCKSSports.com/Cunningham Telephone and Cable Athlete of the Week.
Bergmann has had an outstanding senior season so far on the basketball court for the Lakeside Lady Knights. Over the past week, she was a key factor in helping lead Lakeside to their first ever NPL Tournament Championship Game appearance. In Lakeside's 56-47 win over Osborne in the semifinals on Tuesday, she scored 24 points on 9-17 shooting. She scored 11 points in the first half and eight in the second quarter, but after fighting a box and one defense and going scoreless in the third, she erupted for 13 points in the final quarter and helped Lakeside turn an 11-point deficit into the nine-point win. She added four rebounds, three assists and three steals in that win. In the NPL Play-In game last Friday, Bergmann scored 25 points, going 5-8 from three-point land in a 55-20 win over Southern Cloud. In the quarterfinals on Monday night, she was held to just six points, but she contributed with eight rebounds and three assists in a 53-47 win over Thunder Ridge. On the season, Bergmann is leading Lakeside in scoring at 18 ppg and averages a team-high 3.8 spg. She also averages 4.3 rpg and 2.7 apg. Bergmann is shooting 43% from the floor and 67% (28-42) from the free throw line. She also has made a team high 26 three-pointers and shoots 39% from beyond the arc for the Lady Knights.
