Lakeside Senior Ian Kresin has been named the NCKSSports.com/Cunningham Telephone and Cable Athlete of the Week.
Kresin made major contributions in Lakeside's 40-36 district win over St. John's/Tipton on Friday night. After falling behind 20-0, Kresin helped lead the Knights back and to the eventual win. He finished the night with 18 carries for 181 yards (10.1 ypc) and five touchdowns and he also caught the lone completed pass of the game for the Knights for 39 yards. On defense, Kresin added six tackles with one for loss, a sack and a pass defensed. His performance on Friday night also put him over 1,000 yards for the season. He has 1,020 yards on 106 carries, good for an average of 9.6 yards per carry. Kresin has run for 200 or more yards in three of the six games this season. He had 221 yards and five touchdowns against Reno County Homeschool in Week 2, added 210 yards and six touchdowns in the season opening win over Linn and the week prior to the win over St. John's/Tipton, Kresin ran for 200 yards and three scores at Thunder Ridge. He has 24 rushing touchdowns on the season and has added four catches for 106 yards and two more touchdowns. On defense, he has registered 42 tackles with two for loss, two sacks and an interception this season.
