St. John's/Tipton Sophomore Edward Horinek has been named the NCKSSports.com/Cunningham Telephone and Cable Athlete of the Week.
Horinek had a huge game last Thursday night in helping St. John's/Tipton lock up a spot in the 8-Man DII postseason. The Blujays won 50-22 over Wakefield and Horinek was big on both offense and defense. On offense, he completed 74% of his passes, going 20-27 for 209 yards and five touchdowns. On defense, Horinek had a nose for the ball, tallying four interceptions and adding 112 return yards on those takeaways. He also had two passes defensed in the win. On the season, Horinek has thrown for 852 yards and 13 TD. On defense, he has 23 tackles with four for loss and three and a half sacks. Prior to Thursday, he had not registered an interception, but now leads the team with four for the season and has added five total passes defensed.
