TESCOTT TROJANS, Football
Members of the Tescott Trojans football team have been named the NCKSSports.com/Cunningham Telephone and Cable Athletes of the Week.
After having a solid opening 6-Man campaign in 2022 in which the Trojans went 9-2 and made it to the quarterfinals of the playoffs, Tescott has taken the next step this season. After a 5-2 regular season, the Trojans had a first round bye to open the 6-Man postseason. In the regional round, they were dominant in a 69-19 win over Peabody-Burns to move on to the quarterfinals. After losing to Waverly in that round a season ago, Tescott battled to a 52-45 win in 5 OT to advance to the semifinals (Sub-State) for a rematch with Cunningham, which was one of the teams they lost to in the regular season. This year's run matches the deepest Tescott has ever been in the playoffs. They have four previous Sub-State appearances, but this is the first time in 31 years as they last made the semis in 1992 in 8-Man DII. At 8-2, Tescott looks for their first state championship appearance as they battle Cunningham, which is 10-1 and the defending state champion in 6-Man. Kickoff is at 6:00 on Friday night.
We will announce the winners each week. Remember, you can nominate an athlete from any school sport.
