ELI FRANKLIN, Men's Wrestling

Smith Center Senior Eli Franklin has been named the NCKSSports.com/Cunningham Telephone and Cable Athlete of the Week.

After winning the 3-2-1A State Championship at the 215# weight class as a junior, Franklin is off to an outstanding start to his senior campaign in 2023.  Franklin is 17-1 through the first three events for the Smith Center Redmen this winter.  After a second place finish at the Christmas City Classic in WaKeeney on December 2, Franklin went 5-0 at the Manhattan Dual Tournament on December 9 and followed that up with a 9-0 finish in the two-day Flatwater Fracas in Grand Island.  In his eighth match of the weekend, Franklin picked up the 100th win of his varsity career at Smith Center.  Franklin is now 101-41 over his four-year career with the Redmen.
