BRYCE BEISNER, Men's Basketball
Beloit Junior Bryce Beisner has been named the NCKSSports.com/Cunningham Telephone and Cable Athlete of the Week.
Beisner finished the month of January on a hot streak, averaging 17.0 ppg, 8.2 rpg and 3.0 bpg over the past five games beginning with the Orange & Black Classic on January 19. In that game on the 19th against Pine Creek (CO), he had a double-double, erupting for a career-high 25 points and adding ten boards. He also blocked five shots in the 67-45 first round win. In the semis against the host school Colby, Beisner had 18 points and nine rebounds and added a game-winning three-point play with 7.6 seconds left in the 48-46 win. He also had ten points and six rebounds in the championship loss to Olathe North. Back in to NCAA league action on Tuesday, January 24, Beisner showed out with an outstanding all-around performance, scoring 20 points and grabbing 11 rebounds and getting near a triple-double with eight blocked shots in a 63-52 win at Sacred Heart. He finished the month with a 12-point performance in a 66-31 win on Tuesday at home over Republic County, putting an exclamation point on it with an alley-oop dunk you can see here: Beisner Dunk. On the season, Beisner has scored in double figures in 13 of Beloit's 15 games. He also has four double-doubles. His season totals include 13.5 ppg, 8.5 rpg and 3.8 bpg as he has helped lead the Trojans to an 11-4 overall and 5-1 league record to this point.
