GRADY SEYFERT, Track & Field
Beloit Senior Grady Seyfert has been named the NCKSSports.com/Cunningham Telephone and Cable Athlete of the Week.
Seyfert has had a great career in throws for the Beloit Trojans over the past three seasons. On Tuesday at the Smith Center Redmen Relays, he had one of the greatest performances in Trojan history. In the boys discus, Seyfert beat a 25-year-old school record with a throw of 195'8", taking the gold medal by just under 40 feet over the second place finisher. Prior to Seyfert's throw on Tuesday, Tony Thompson had the school record at 194'7". Seyfert also took the gold in the shot put at Smith Center with a throw of 56'5", which was nearly ten feet better than second place. He has competed in two events this season, also winning the gold medal in both the discus and shot put at the Concordia Invitational on April 6. Seyfert entered this season after finishing second place in the state in both the discus and shot put in 2022. Later this season, he will look to become a three-time state qualifier in each event.
We will announce the winners each week. Remember, you can nominate an athlete from any school sport.
