Thunder Ridge Senior Toree Slavik has been named the NCKSSports.com/Cunningham Telephone and Cable Athlete of the Week.
After solid seasons in volleyball in the fall and basketball in the winter, Slavik has picked up the spring track and field season where she left off in 2022. The two-time defending state champion in the 1A girls discus, Slavik opened her senior campaign at the St. John's Invitational in Beloit on Tuesday. She uncorked a throw of 131'8" to take first place in the discus. That was just less than three feet behind her state championship throw of 134'2" last season and the winning mark at St. John's was over 33 feet better than the second place finisher. To add to the gold medal in the discus, Slavik also took first place in the shot put on Tuesday with a throw of 33'11 1/2". Slavik has excelled during her senior season as she was a first team all-NPL volleyball selection and also picked second team all-NPL in basketball.
