BELOIT LADY TROJANS, Softball
Members of the Beloit Lady Trojans softball team have been named the NCKSSports.com/Cunningham Telephone and Cable Athletes of the Week.
Beloit qualified for the 3A State Tournament for the second time in program history, winning the Concordia Regional on Wednesday afternoon and evening. Beloit opened the day with a 5-2 win over Riley County in the semis. Beloit led 3-0 after two innings, but Riley County scored two runs in the fourth. The Lady Trojans gained some insurance with two runs in the 5th for the three-run win. Chloe Odle pitched all seven innings, giving up two runs with zero earned on four hits and registering 12 strikeouts. She also went 2-3 with two RBI at the plate. Odle was even better in the championship, pitching a no-hitter over 5 innings with seven strikeouts in a 10-0 shutout of Marysville. Beloit led 4-0 after two and added four more runs in the fourth. A two-RBI hit from Peyton Remus in the 5th put the game on ice. Remus finished 3-4 with three RBI, while McKenna Channel went 3-3 and drove in two runs and Haley Channel drove in two runs as well. After two wins on Wednesday, Beloit is now 20-3 as they head to the 3A State Tournament in Manhattan next week.
We will announce the winners each week. Remember, you can nominate an athlete from any school sport.
