TERIN WINKEL, Men's Golf
Lakeside Senior Terin Winkel has been named the NCKSSports.com/Cunningham Telephone and Cable Athlete of the Week.
Winkel has been one of the top golfers for the Lakeside Knights team which has finished first place at all four of their Sand Greens meets so far this season. On Tuesday, the Knights won their home invitational at Downs Golf Course and Winkel shot a 69 on the day, taking first place individually for the third time in five meets this season. Winkel also finished first place at the Rock Hills Invitational on April 25. Just a week after shooting a season-low 80 on sand and finishing 6th in the NPL meet in Mankato on April 18, Winkel came back to Mankato and shot a season-best 65 and won the Rock Hills Invitational by seven strokes. Winkel's other first place finish this season was at the St. John's Invitational in Glasco on April 13. Winkel and the Knights opened the season on grass greens at the Smith Center Invitational on April 4 where he finished 12th place individually.
