Members of the Beloit Grasshoppers Pee Wee Baseball team have been named the NCKSSports.com/Cunningham Telephone and Cable Athletes of the Week.

The Grasshoppers brought home the Pee Wee State Championship in Concordia last Friday night.  The Grasshoppers went into the District 2 Tournament with a 7-3 record and finished second place to Osborne in Smith Center.  Entering the State Tournament at 9-4, they recovered and went on a great run.  They opened the tournament with a 15-0 shutout over Bremen and pulled out a 5-3 win over their hometown foe Beloit Iron Birds in the quarterfinals.  In the semis, the Grasshoppers won 3-1 over Hanover to advance to the Championship.  On Friday night, they defeated the Concordia Knights 8-3 in the title game to finish the season as the State Champions with a 13-4 record.  The Grasshoppers are just the second team from Beloit to ever win the Pee Wee State Championship, joining the Beloit Mud Hens in 2012.
